VISION

To realise an ultimate collaboration amongst the positive environmental programmes in our society, that can be presented and adopted by the relevant Committees in Government respectively, with the aim to resolve current problems.

OUR MISSION

In our view outdated, missing or overbearing legislation is often the contributing factor to “problem areas”. However, it’s not always possible for public or private organisations to address these pieces of legislation often due to financial or resource constraints. We set out to shape legislation by means of public participation on a municipal, regional and national level utilising the DearSA legally recognised platform.

WE RUN MORE THAN PETITIONS

We run legally recognised public participation processes which allow citizens to co-form policy at all levels of governance. Whereas petitions, even if they contain thousands of signatures, are considered as a single submission by government, our process ensures that each comment made through DearSA is recognised and counted as an individual submission by government.

Our Objective

DearSA’s Enviro Expert Coalition is a lobby group that has been developed to operate with other global environmental groups to increase collaboration with the objective to influence policy on environmental matters. Our areas include the following:

Biodiversity and Conservation
Oceans and Coasts
Chemicals and Waste Management
Climate change, air quality and sustainable development

Draft Meat Act

Our “Draft Meat Safety Act” campaign was opened up to participants in April 2020 for comment with regard to the new proposed changes that government would like to make in relation to the Meat Safety Act. As part of these changes, there were quite a number of endangered species that were added to the list as safe for consumption, for example: Rhinoceros & Elephant.
